Send answers to a UiPath queue

Every response becomes a new item in a UiPath Orchestrator queue, with each answer in its Specific Content, ready for a robot to process. Part of the paid Business plans.

1. In Orchestrator: a queue

Open the folder your robots work in and go to Queues → Add queue.
Optionally turn on Enforce unique references: each item’s reference is the response’s ID, so a response can never be queued twice.
Note the folder’s ID: with the folder open, it’s the number after fid= in the browser’s address.

2. In UiPath Admin: an External Application

Go to Admin → External Applications → Add application. Name it “Agent002” and choose Confidential application.
Under Add scopes, pick Orchestrator API Access, then under Application scope(s) select OR.Queues. Save.
Copy the App ID and App Secret. The secret is shown only once.
Back in Orchestrator, give the application access to the folder (Assign accounts / Manage access), with a role that can view queues and create queue items (transactions).

3. In Agent002

Go to Connections → Add a UiPath connection. Paste the Orchestrator address from your browser, up to and including orchestrator_ (for example https://cloud.uipath.com/acme/DefaultTenant/orchestrator_), the App ID and the App Secret. Agent002 signs in right away to check them.
Open your form, go to Destinations → UiPath queue, and enter the folder ID and the queue’s name.
Use Send a test. A new item appears in the queue, marked as a test.

What the robot receives

In a workflow, read a value with in_TransactionItem.SpecificContent("email").ToString. Questions left empty or hidden by a condition aren’t included, so check with ContainsKey first.

Good to know

Works with UiPath Automation Cloud, and with your own Orchestrator if it can be reached from the internet. For your own servers, open Scopes and token address and enter the token address, usually https://your-server/identity/connect/token.
If UiPath is down, Agent002 retries for about 15 hours. Wrong folders, queues or permissions stop with a clear message in the form’s delivery log.
The App Secret is stored encrypted and never shown again, not even to you. To change it, edit the connection.
